Title: Famous African American Who Made Significant Contributions To Society
School: Canter Middle
Teacher: Ms. Glenda Banks
Grade Level: 7th & 8th/ Social Studies
Purpose: This project was done for African American History month.
Proceedure: Students were given a handout with highlighted weekly assignments that students had to complete. Each task had a point value and the entire project is worth 100 points. First, each student had to pick a famous African American, from the past or present, who has or is making a significant contribution to our society. Students were not allowed to report on current singers or current sports figures. The person chosen by the students, had to be approved by the teachers. The second task was to complete research and create a outline. The third task was to complete a PowerPoint presentation.
Technology: Computers connected to the Internet, websites, PowerPoint Software.
